The foundation of J Charles Consulting is built on decades of leadership experience and a profound understanding of the financial ecosystem.

Mr. Hensel is responsible for overseeing the planning and execution of the firm’s operations and activities in the United Arab Emirates operating out of Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM) located in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE).

He is an experienced Senior Executive with thirty plus years of leadership experience across several industries. He has held a number of Managing Director level positions at leading global institutions. He has deep experience in Digital Infrastructure and the evolving regulatory landscape which guides the adoption of Digital Assets. He has extensive experience in Hedge Funds and Quantitative Investment Strategies, and their related fund operations, administration, and reporting responsibilities.  

As an experienced SEO & COO, Mr. Hensel set up and operated multiple financial services businesses regulated in the Abu Dhabi Global Market. He has served in several board roles including executive director, non-executive, and advisor to Hedge Funds, Broker Dealers, Blockchain Infrastructure Technology Companies, and Venture Capital firms. He has served as a member of the Investment Committee in venture capital, most recently serving on a Blockchain Infrastructure Venture Capital firm regulated by ADGM’s FSRA.  

Prior to founding J Charles Consulting Ltd., Mr. Hensel joined Demeter Tactical Investments (ME) Ltd. as Senior Executive Officer, a rapidly growing U.S. Equities Hedge Fund manager licensed by and operating from the ADGM (2024-present). Prior to Demeter, he served as Head of DTCC Digital (ME) Ltd (2023-2024), a division of the Depository Trust Clearing Company (DTCC).

Prior to joining DTCC, Mr. Hensel co-founded and served as COO for Securrency, Inc., a leading digital infrastructure technology company (2015-2023) until its acquisition by DTCC in 2023. 

Mr. Hensel has lived and worked full-time in the UAE since 2017, serving as Senior Executive Officer of three FSRA regulated financial services firms and a technology company based in Abu Dhabi.

Prior to relocating to the UAE, Mr. Hensel served for 25 years as a Pilot in the United States Navy. He earned a M.B.A. at The Carey Business School – Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland, a M.A. in Strategy & Policy from the U.S. Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island, and a B.S. from the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland.
